Women & Tech release their first interview

After my son was born, I started getting involved with Girls In Tech. It’s hard to jump from being a professional and working a lot to staying home with the kids. I needed to do something. That first year when you’re at home is a huge transitional time – it is for many women I think. So I started the Girls in Tech group in Toronto.

Interesting first interview from Women & Tech. If you’re interested in the local community: OKtechgURLs “is grassroots collective of women working in and pioneering technology businesses in the Okanagan Valley.”

The BC government doesn’t want Uber?

Citing safety concerns, the Government of BC has effectively blocked Uber from operating in the province by enforcing a $75 per-trip minimum:

Uber is using rates below those required by the Passenger Transportation Board. We are working with this company, which is providing a new service. However, we must ensure it is fair and that it does not detract from existing businesses that are licensed to operate. In the interim, starting this weekend, the company will use the minimum rate of $75 for each trip.

Is the government blocking innovation or standing up for the safety of citizens? What do you think?
